think this is the best market we have in Montgomery. Everywhere else I’ve been just doesn’t carry the items I need. I grew up in a Korean and Puerto Rican household in Florida, and this is the first place here where I’ve been able to find ingredients like purple sweet potatoes, enoki mushrooms, rice flower, affordable without paying a premium. If you enjoy cooking dishes from different cultures and making things yourself, this is a great spot. They also have a good selection of premade foods, though those can get a bit pricey. Overall, it’s a solid option for variety and value.
Love shopping here. I can find everything I need. Love the produce section that includes international fresh fruit and vegetables also. Great fresh fish section and the restaurant inside is a true gem. Most authentic Mexican food in the area, the tamales and tacos are especially delicious
Montgomery is a food desert. The only grocery stores that are affordable for most of the population here are Walmart- with their paltry variety of vegetables and fruits, and massive lack of quality. If you want something more, you can change the farmers markets to see if they have anything outside of the southern staples, or spend much more getting it from one of our more unique markets. I can not begin to state how much this market has saved my opinion of how hard it is to find good produce in terms of quality and variety. It is a DREAM. I was able to stock up on produce for two weeks for less than $100, and were a “mostly”-vegetarian household. It smelled like my childhood grocery stores in Texas, and that was my first sign it was going to be good. Also, they have changed my world view entirely on Tamales. I’ve only ever had Corn Husk tamales, but I’ve been completed converted to Banana Leaf tamales!
Dude this place has EVERYTHING! Do you need an obscure Mexican, Chinese, thai, or Indian ingredient. Then this place probably has it. Great produce and meat. The fish is fresh and ready to be cooked. Come on down here and experience the cultural world of food.
